The new facility was to open July 2, no new date has been set.
The opening of the new houshold hazardous waste depot in Kingston is being pushed back.
It was originally set to open July 2 but the City of Kingston says delays from the manufacturer on a new structure is preventing them from opening the facility this year.
They say the structure is custom manufactured to meet the City's and project’s specific operational, regulatory, and technical requirements. Without that structure in place, the site can not operate as directed by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
No new date has been set as to when the depot will be open.
In the meantime, the City has set aside two days where residents can drop off their household hazardous waste. One is at the KFR Training Centre on Terry Fox Dr on July 18, the other is on August 29 at the Public Works Sand and Salt Dome on Innovation Dr.
Both days will be utilizing the drive-through set-up where staff can fully manage the materials.
