Assistive listening systems launched at City Hall, INVISTA Centre and Artillery Park Aquatic Centre.
The City of Kingston has introduced new assistive listening systems at three municipal facilities to improve access for residents and visitors with hearing challenges.
The technology is now available at City Hall, the INVISTA Centre and the Artillery Park Aquatic Centre. The systems provide amplified sound to help users hear staff more clearly and access services more easily.
The city says the technology supports a range of users, including people with hearing aids, cochlear implants, Auracast-enabled hearing devices and those who do not use hearing devices. Visitors without compatible devices can request a handheld listener that amplifies speech.
Deputy City Clerk Derek Ochej said the new systems reflect the city's commitment to reducing barriers and improving access to municipal services.
The launch coincides with National AccessAbility Week, which recognizes the contributions of people with disabilities and promotes accessibility and inclusion. As part of the week, City Hall will be illuminated red on June 3 for Red Shirt Day.
