The service which is a partnership between Air Canada and Landline will begin operating in September.
There is a new bus service that will take Air Canada passengers from Kingston to Pearson Airport in Toronto.
The airline is teaming up with the Landline Company to offer a daily shuttle service from the Norman Rogers Airport to Pearson starting Sept. 23.
Landline's Regional Manager Rizwan Qadir says this new service is all about convenience.
Passengers who use the service will be automatically offered the same protections as customers travelling on air-only itineraries in the event of delays.
The coach that will be used to take passenger to/from YGK is equipped with comfortable leather seats and wi-fi connection.
Kingston is the third city to have this shuttle service to Pearson. It first launched in Waterloo Region and Hamilton in May 2024.
Qadir says Air Canada passengers have enjoyed using the service to help them to get to their destination.
There is currently no major airline that flies out of Kingston. Air Canada had flights to/from YGK as recently as 2020 before service was suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Director of Strategy, Innovation, and Partnerships at the City of Kingston, Craig Desjardins says they hope this new bus service will eventually lead to a return of international air travel out of the airport.
There is also the distance to Pearson airport from Kingston which is more than a three-hour drive while Ottawa International Airport is less than 2 1/2 hours away.
Desjardins says it would of made sense to send passengers to Ottawa but Pearson has a lot of advantages.
For now, Desjardins says this new bus service will get residents to their destinations as well as those looking to visit the Limestone City.
