The Manager of Culture and Community with the OHL talks about how players opening up about their mental health is influencing fans to do the same.
In a league that is as competitive as the Ontario Hockey League, the focus of winning is often front and centre.
A lot of us see the skill and speed of players making great plays. But what we don't often see is what goes through their minds when the game is on the line.
As part of our feature on mental health week, our Ken Hashizume spoke with Tracy Robert, OHL's Manager of Culture and Community.
She explains why more athletes, as well as coaches and staff are opening up about their mental health and how it is OK to reach out for help.
We hear how former OHL player Ben Fanelli (left in photo) has used his experience in helping others cope with mental health issues. And, by having players open up about their mental health, how that has inspired others to do the same.
