The Director of Clinical Services discusses some of the techniques used with mental health patients and how treatments have evolved over time.
Health care has come a long way in treating patients with many ailments.
Cancer was seen as a death sentence but more people are beating the disease with the help of advanced technology, medication, and treatments.
There has also been an evolution in the way mental health is both seen and treated. The Maltby Centre in Kingston has been around for over 30 years and they have seen how people experiencing mental health issues are looked at and the advancements in treatments being offered
As part of our feature on Mental Health Week, our Ken Hashizume had a chance to speak with Karen Livicker, Director of Clinical Services at the Maltby Centre.
Karen covers what the centre does and goes over the many ways they have assisted those seeking help with their mental health. She also goes over the dangers using techniques such as AI in treating mental health without the assistance of a trained professional.
