Upgrades are being done on County Rd 2 between Deer Ridge Dr and Golf Club Lane.
Motorists travelling between Kingston and Gananoque should prepare for long-term delays as a major reconstruction project gets underway on County Road 2 in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands.
Lane restrictions are now in place on County Road 2 from approximately 4.2 kilometres east of Deer Ridge Drive near the City of Kingston to Golf Club Lane in Gananoque. The project is expected to continue until October 2026, although the timeline could change depending on construction progress.
The work includes replacing deteriorated corrugated steel and concrete cross culverts, upgrading selected entranceway culverts, rehabilitating the existing road surface using partial-depth reclamation, paving a new layer of hot mix asphalt, upgrading guiderails, and cleaning out roadside ditches.
Single-lane closures will be in effect throughout the project, and drivers should expect delays. The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is encouraging motorists to use alternate routes whenever possible and thanks residents and travellers for their patience during the extensive road improvements.
