Over 16,000 pounds and $17,000 were collected in one day.
Partners in Mission are two-thirds of the way towards their goal for April.
They held a "food blitz" at eight grocery stores in the Kingston area on Saturday collecting non-perishable food items, cash and personal items.
In one day, the food bank collected 16,340 pounds of food and $17,002 in cash donations.
Executive Director Dan Irwin says the residents once again stepped up when they put out the call.
The goal of the food blitz was 25,000 pounds of food and $30,000 in cash donations.
Irwin says they had hoped to reach their goal in one day but understands not everyone in town is in a position to donate.
All the food collected was then transported to their warehouse on Harvey St.
Irwin says that was when the real work began for their volunteers.
People can still donate to the food blitz by dropping off non-perishable food items at their bins located at grocery stores in the city. They can also make a monetary donation by going to the Partners in Mission food bank website. (https://www.kingstonfoodbank.ca/)
