Young leaders shine at Jr. Mayor’s Innovation Challenge finale.
The City of Kingston and BGC South East are celebrating local youth after the second annual Jr. Mayor’s Innovation Challenge showcase highlighted creativity and leadership among participants aged 10 to 14.
Held at the STEM and Robotics Centre at Frontenac Mall, the event marked the end of a 12-week program where students worked alongside engineers, educators and mentors to solve real-world problems.
Participants followed the engineering design process, developing ideas from concept to prototype before presenting to judges, City officials and families. Along the way, they built skills in leadership, communication, collaboration and critical thinking.
Mayor Bryan Paterson praised the students’ practical and inspiring solutions, while organizers emphasized the value of hands-on learning.
The City and BGC South East thanked mentors, volunteers and partners for their support.
As students celebrated their achievements, organizers said one message stood out: Kingston’s future is bright.
