City asks drivers to move vehicles overnight to support plowing and cleanup.
Some Kingston residents are raising concerns about icy streets, limited salting and damaged garbage bins as winter weather continues to create challenges across the city. Freeze–thaw cycles and bursts of heavy snow have made roads and sidewalks difficult to navigate, and some neighbourhoods say this season has felt more demanding than usual.
A resident made a comment about the icy sidewalks on Facebook saying, "I shouldn't have to risk my children's lives when I'm going to work and dropping them off to school"
To support plowing and nightly cleanup, the City is asking residents to move their vehicles off the road overnight so crews have enough space to work safely and efficiently.
People are also encouraging one another to place garbage and recycling bins farther back from the curb to prevent damage, especially on narrower streets where trucks have less room to maneuver.
As winter weather continues, residents hope that increased cooperation and awareness across the community will lead to safer roads and smoother service in the weeks ahead.
