The City received funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to purchase the trucks.
The City of Kingston now has a greener way to collect and haul garbage.
They officially unveiled two Mack LR side-loading electric-powered garbage trucks at the Public Works Facility on Tuesday.
The vehicles were purchased from Surgenor Truck Group in Kingston in 2025 and are already in service.
In a news release, the City received $500,000 from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Green Municipal Fund to purchase the trucks.
The City says the addition of the two garbage trucks to their existing fleet furthers their commitment to leading climate action.
