University Hospitals Kingston Foundation campaign hopes to recruit more than 500 monthly donors.
Kingston residents may notice canvassers going door-to-door next week as part of a fundraising campaign supporting local health care.
The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation says trained canvassers will visit neighbourhoods across Kingston from June 1 to 6, encouraging residents to become monthly donors in support of Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care.
The foundation hopes to recruit more than 500 new monthly donors through the campaign.
According to UHKF, monthly donations help fund medical equipment, technology and specialized training programs that are not fully covered by government funding. The organization says the support helps patients across southeastern Ontario access care closer to home instead of travelling to larger cities like Ottawa or Toronto.
UHKF director of healthcare engagement and sustainability Lori Faggiani said even small monthly donations can make a major impact for patients and care teams.
The campaign is being conducted in partnership with fundraising organization GlobalFaces Direct. Canvassers will carry official identification and donations will be processed securely using encrypted tablets.
Residents can verify canvassers by calling 1-833-341-0106.
