Snow Angels Canada connects residents in need of snow-clearing assistance with local volunteers willing to help.
Kingston residents who need help clearing snow this winter can turn to a community volunteer program connecting neighbours willing to lend a hand.
The City of Kingston has partnered with Snow Angels Canada, a national resource that matches residents seeking snow-clearing assistance with volunteers.
The program allows residents to register for help with shovelling driveways and pathways or sign up to volunteer and assist someone in their neighbourhood.
Ruth Noordegraaf, the city's director of community development and well-being and inclusion, indigenization, diversity, equity and accessibility, says the initiative helps strengthen community connections.
Snow Angels Canada began in 2015 and has expanded across the country, with several municipalities partnering with the organization.
However, the program is independently managed, and the city cannot guarantee residents requesting assistance will find a volunteer nearby.
Residents interested in receiving help or volunteering can register through the Snow Angels Canada website at snowangelscanada.ca.
