Police forces from across Ontario were in Waterloo Region to get trained and put that learning to practice.
Members of Kingston Police were in Waterloo Region to learn how to inspect large commercial vehicles.
They along with police forces across Ontario took part in a Modified and Unsafe Vehicle Enforcement Course last Friday hosted by the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
Officers first went through a specialized training course focused on identifying unsafe and improperly modified vehicles.
They then put that training to use stopping and checking vehicles for compliance.
Over the course of a four-hour period, officers:
- Stopped 42 vehicles
- Laid 142 Highway Traffic Act charges
- Seized 17 sets of licence plates for unfit vehicles
- Charged two drivers for operating motor vehicles while under suspension
- Arrested one individual who was wanted on an outstanding warrant
