Kingston Police investigating metal spikes in trees at west-end property

Owner discovered the metal spikes meant to prevent the cutting of trees.

An investigation is underway into the suspected sabotage of trees in Kingston's west end.

A property owner notifed Kingston Police earlier this week after finding metal spikes placed around a number of trees on his property.

The spikes have been put there as a way to prevent the trees from being cut down.

The property on Taylor Kidd Blvd has been the subject of protests surrounding the cutting of the trees.

The City of Kingston issued a stop work order back in March preventing the owner from cutting down the trees.

There is a Facebook group called Friends of Collins Creek that don't want to see the trees taken down. They have denied any involvement in the placing of metal spikes in trees.

Kingston Police Media Relations Coordinator Anthony Colangeli has confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation but offered very few details about the case.
