Partnership with the Ministry of Transportation focuses on education, compliance and prevention
Kingston Police is highlighting the importance of commercial vehicle inspections as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety across the city.
Working alongside inspectors from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, officers recently carried out a commercial vehicle inspection initiative in Kingston. Vehicles were selected at random to ensure they met provincial safety standards while giving inspectors an opportunity to work directly with drivers and business owners.
Police say the inspections are about more than enforcement. Education, collaboration and prevention remain key priorities to help businesses understand safety requirements and keep commercial vehicles roadworthy.
During the initiative, a vehicle from BIG mini BINS successfully passed its inspection. Owner Megan Carrigan said safety and compliance are central to the company's operations and welcomed proactive enforcement efforts that help keep Ontario roads safe.
Kingston Police thanked BIG mini BINS and other participating businesses, saying partnerships between law enforcement, regulators and the business community help create safer roads for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
