The Kingston Police Service Board announced that Scott Fraser's last day as police chief will be December 31, 2025.
Kingston Police Chief Scott Fraser will retire at the end of this year, closing out a policing career that spans more than three decades.
Fraser joined Kingston Police in 2021 as Deputy Chief before becoming Acting Chief in 2023 and Chief of Police in 2024. During his time in Kingston, Fraser oversaw major initiatives including the creation of a Police Liaison Team to improve community trust, partnerships with local organizations, and joint operations with national agencies to fight organized crime.
Board Chair Jarrod Stearns praised Fraser’s “steady leadership” and commitment to community values. Fraser said it was an honour to serve Kingston, thanking the Service and community for their support.
The Police Services Board will begin the process of selecting a new chief to ensure a smooth transition.
