A 36-year-old Kingston resident faces a mischief charge after being caught spray painting an overpass on Division St.
A Kingston police officer caught a suspected graffiti tagger in the act during a daytime patrol.
Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a member of the Kingston Police Patrol Division was driving near Division St. and John Counter Blvd. when they spotted an individual spray painting an overpass.
The officer immediately intervened, arresting the person at the scene and seizing four cans of spray paint and a permanent marker.
Police say a 36-year-old Kingston resident has been charged with mischief under $5,000. The individual was transported to Kingston Police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
Authorities remind residents that vandalism is a criminal offence and that officers continue to monitor known tagging areas to protect public property and keep Kingston’s neighbourhoods clean.
