31-year-old Adam Shulist is facing a number of charges including fraud and theft.
An investigation into an alleged fraud in Kingston has led to an arrest.
The investigation began in November 2025 when police received several complaints about a local contractor.
They had determined that the contractor, who is listed as the owner and operator of Oakwood Group Inc, knowing made false claims to customers.
Investigators say those claims led to payments for material, labour, and permits totaling $586,000.
They say the contractor kept the money for his own personal projects as well as not paying subcontractors for work that was performed. It was also determined that bank drafts used to pay him were double-deposited to accounts in order to fraudulently obtain credit.
31-year-old Adam Shulist of Kingston was arrested on Tuesday. He faces a number of charges including multiple counts for fraud and theft.
Investigators say none of the money that was taken has not been returned.
They are asking anyone who may have done business with Oakwood Group or Titan Seals Inc to contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext 0 or email swalker@kingstonpolice.ca.
