Donations welcome to support local families
Local farmers and KCHC’s Pathways to Education are bringing back the Community Food Fund for 2025, aiming to support 20 Kingston families with weekly fresh food deliveries from June to October.
The program, now in its third year, will provide 18 weeks of vegetables, beef, and fresh bread from local favourites like Grains and Goods Bakery, Fat Chance Farmstead, and Doublejay Farms. In 2024, 13 families received food support through the initiative.
Pathways manager Roger Romero says this year’s program includes new food education. “Youth will learn how food is grown and build relationships with local producers,” he said.
Since 2010, Pathways has helped over 500 youth in Rideau Heights and Inner Harbour graduate and plan for their futures. The food fund connects education, health, and community resilience.
Donations are being accepted until May 15. A $1,000 gift sponsors one family’s full season.
