Kingston residents will have a chance to come together this month to support people affected by bladder cancer.
The Kingston Bladder Cancer Walk is set for Sunday, Sept. 13, at Lake Ontario Park. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.
The local event is part of Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer and aims to raise awareness and funds for research and patient support.
Event coordinator Amber Besharah, says bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers in Canada, but remains under-funded.
The walk also gives patients, caregivers and medical professionals a chance to connect and build a supportive community.
For Kingston, the event offers a local way for residents to honour people affected by the disease while supporting advocacy and resources for patients.
Besharah explains how else people can help.
