Kingston Baseball Association President thrilled to be first recipient of Garry McColman volunteer award

Tori Boshart say she owes her success to the people who help run the games and tournaments.

To be the Garry McColman Volunteer of the Year by Tourism Kingston is one thing.

But according to Tori Boshart, President of the Kingston Baseball Association, to have it presented to you by the man who the award is named after was an honour.

Boshart is the first recipient of the award and says McColman, better known as Big G on Kingston's New Country 98.9, has done so much for organized sport for the community.

Boshart received the award during last Thursday's Tourism Kingston Annual General Meeting at Fort Henry.

She says she owes her honour to the people who help put the games and tournaments together.

In addition to running an organization, Boshart is a coach. She won an Ontario Coaching Award in 2025 and her organization of the Canadian Little League National Championship was a finalist for Sport Event of the Year by Sport Tourism Canada.

Boshart says the support from the community allowed it to be successful.

The Kingston Baseball Association recently received funding from the Jays Care Foundation.

She says that gives kids, who couldn't afford to buy equipment, a chance to play baseball.

Boshart says she is looking forward to this year's Eastern Canadian Little League National Championship that will be taking place in Kingston in July.
