Widespread flooding is not expected, but some low-lying areas are seeing localized water pooling.
Cataraqui Conservation has extended a watershed conditions statement for water safety, warning residents and visitors about high flows across inland lakes and streams.
The agency said between 15 and 50 millimetres of rain fell from April 12 to 15, with more rain expected through April 18, according to Environment Canada.
Runoff has pushed creek flows to 1.5 to three times normal April levels, while saturated ground is limiting absorption and increasing runoff into waterways.
Water managers are adjusting dam discharges to manage rising levels, but officials note such actions cannot prevent flooding.
The main concern remains public safety, as fast-moving water and slippery banks raise the risk of accidents near dams and channels.
Widespread flooding is not expected, but some low-lying areas are seeing localized water pooling.
The statement remains in effect until April 23, with conditions to be updated as needed. Residents should contact local municipalities for assistance if flooding occurs.
