McLean settling in after trade, has points in seven of his last eight games.
The Frontenacs almost squandered a hot start but were able to hang on and beat the visiting Owen Sound Attack.
Alex Misiak had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 Frontenacs victory on Friday at Slush Puppie Place. It is their fifth win in their last six games.
Kingston built a 4-0 first period lead that resulted in Attack starter Matthew Koproski (9 saves) being lifted from the game at the 13:40 mark.
Owen Sound would answer with three goals in the second period, all in a span of 3:05.
Frontenacs head coach Troy Mann felt his team were able to keep the momentum on their side despite letting the Attack back in the game.
Misiak, Riley Clark, Landon Wright, and Andre Mondeaux scored in that four-goal first period. Alex McLean got an assist one game after seeing his six-game point streak snapped on Wednesday in Brantford.
He says the group played very well after the Attack closed the gap.
McLean has 3 goals and 13 assists in 15 games since being acquired in a trade from the Guelph Storm after the Christmas break. He has provided a spark offensively for a team that had been struggling to score especially on the power play.
McLean says he wants to help the team anyway he can.
Mann says McLean's willingness to learn has made him a valuable asset.
Nolan Synder would restore the two-goal lead for the Frontenacs (24-22-2-2) with his 11th of the season in the third period. He also had a pair of shots hit the post, one was with the Owen Sound net empty.
Gavin Betts made 19 saves in the game including one in the third where he had to stretch out to stop a one-timer from Caden Taylor and keep it a two-goal game.
Easton Mikus, Julian Brown, and Tristan Delisle scored for the Attack (20-25-2-3). Trenten Bennett stopped 15 of 16 shots after coming in relief in the first period.
Kingston were 1-for-4 with the man advantage, Owen Sound were 1-for-3.
The Frontenacs will play the Bulldogs for the second time in three games this time at Slush Puppie Place on Sunday at 2:05 pm. It will also be New Country 98.9 day at the arena.
If you can't make it to the rink, tune in to Kingston's New Country 98.9 as Jim Gilchrist will have the call on Upper Canada Fuel and Burner Frontenacs Hockey.
