Matt McQuillan passed away last Wednesday at the age of 45.
A former professional golfer from Kingston has died.
Matt McQuillan passed away last Wednesday at Kingston General Hospital at the age of 45.
No official cause of death has been released.
McQuillan first earned his PGA TOUR card in 2010. He competed in 21 events in 2011 making seven cuts. His best finish was a tie for third at the John Deere Classic that season.
An obituary posted on the Whig's website reads that Matt's father, Mark, started teaching him how to swing the club at the young age of ten and his passion and talent grew immensely. It goes on to say Matt developed lifelong friendships while mentoring anyone who loved the game of golf.
Mark McQuillan is a member of the Garrison Golf Club. They issued a statement on Facebook extending their condolences to the family on Matt's passing.
