City announces 2026 Rural Community Program Fund recipients supporting local events, recreation and community initiatives
The City of Kingston has announced five projects selected to receive funding through the 2026 Rural Community Program Fund.
The annual program provides up to $5,000 for initiatives that encourage community connections, celebrate rural culture and create opportunities for residents and visitors to experience rural Kingston.
This year's recipients are the Peirson Park Rink Redevelopment, a community garden well project led by the Scott Ecological Fund, the Sounds of the Pines Concert Series, the 5-Stand Recreational Shooting Sport Experience and reusable programming equipment for the Thousand Islands 4-H Sheep Club.
Coun. Gary Oosterhof, chair of the Rural Kingston Working Group, said the projects help bring neighbours together while celebrating the unique character of Kingston's rural communities.
The city recognized recipients during a community celebration at Glenburnie Firehall on Friday.
Mayor Bryan Paterson, city councillors, staff and members of the Rural Economic and Community Development Working Group attended the event celebrating the organizations receiving funding this year.
