Officers have attended to a dozen collisions since early Thursday morning, most of them were minor.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are advising residents across eastern Ontario to avoid unnecessary travel today due to hazardous winter conditions.
While snowfall accumulation has been light, drifting snow has built up on many roads, creating slippery and unpredictable driving conditions.
Since 5 a.m., OPP officers have responded to nearly a dozen collisions, most involving vehicles ending up in ditches. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported.
Authorities warn that conditions are expected to persist throughout the day, and travel may become increasingly dangerous.
Drivers who must be on the roads are urged to slow down, leave extra following distance, keep headlights on, and focus on the road ahead. The OPP also reminds motorists never to pass a working snowplow, which is clearing the roads to improve safety.
Residents are asked to monitor local weather updates and exercise caution.
