There is also a property exchange with Queen's University.
The City of Kingston has issued a notice of its intention to declare certain waterfront lands surplus and proceed with a property exchange involving Queen’s University to support future development and infrastructure improvements.
The affected properties include parts of water lots and the bed of Lake Ontario near Queen’s University, identified as Parts 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 on reference plan 13R-23397. The proposed land exchange and easements aim to give each party appropriate control over infrastructure and improve long-term planning for sidewalks, lighting, and the waterfront pathway.
The City also purchased nearby land from Transport Canada for upgrades to the waterfront trail and plans to temporarily license a portion of the Queen’s steam plant parking lot until the project moves ahead.
City council will consider declaring the property surplus at its December 2, 2025, meeting.
