Chamber supporting Williamsville businesses during Princess St. construction

CEO says they brought up merchants' concerns with the city about parking and signage.

The Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce are lending a hand to businesses in the Williamsville District affected by the construction on Princess St.

They were able to gather feedback from the merchants and relayed those concerns to the City. She says they were able to get wayfinding signs installed to indicate the businesses were open.

Cross says it took a while before business started to pick up again.

Another issue is the availability of parking. With Princess closed between Frontenac and Division streets, both customers and staff have been forced to park their vehicles elsewhere and walk the rest of the way.

Cross says they were able to get the City to free up space for vehicles.

Even when people were ordering out, delivery drivers were having difficulty finding space to pick up the food.

But Cross says one business was able to step up to help.

Cross says businesses in the city can rest assured that the Chamber will assist them with anything that matters to them.

Work is being done on along Princess to replace watermain, sewers and hydro lines. The first phase is expected to be completed by mid to late December.
