Kingston shifts tournaments and drop-in skating to other arenas while damaged facility targets fall 2026 return.
The City of Kingston is continuing major repair work at Centre 70 Arena after a burst water pipe caused significant damage inside the facility on Jan. 26.
The arena remains closed for the rest of the Winter 2026 ice season, but the city says tournaments and drop-in programs are still being accommodated at other municipal arenas. Additional ice time has been added to support public skating, shinny and other city-run programs during the busy winter period.
City staff are working directly with user groups to relocate bookings in line with Kingston’s Ice Allocation Policy. Officials say the temporary loss of Centre 70 has placed added pressure on remaining arenas.
The city has safely removed refrigerant from the ice-making system, and damaged refrigeration equipment is now being assessed. Utility services will be restored before repairs begin.
The City of Kingston says Centre 70 Arena is expected to reopen with a functioning ice surface in fall 2026, depending on repair timelines and parts availability.
