CSC says 74-year-old Robert Buchanan died of apparent natural causes.
An inmate at Bath Institution’s Regional Treatment Centre has died while in the custody.
The Correctional Service of Canada says Robert William Buchanan died on Aug. 24 at the age of 74. Correctional officials said the death is believed to have been from apparent natural causes.
Buchanan had been serving a sentence of 12 years, 10 months and 21 days since March 5, 2024.
His next of kin have been notified.
The CSC said it will review the circumstances surrounding the death, as it does in all cases involving an inmate death. Police and the coroner have also been notified, as required under CSC policy.
