Applications open for Mayor for a Day in Kingston

One Grade 5 student will get to spend a day with Mayor Bryan Paterson at City Hall.

The City of Kingston is inviting one Grade 5 student to step in the Mayor's shoes for a day.

The third-annual Mayor for a Day contest sees one student get a chance to spend the day with Mayor Bryan Paterson.

In a news release, the selected student will get to tour City Hall, attend a meeting and community event, sit in the mayor’s chair in Council Chambers, and share lunch with Mayor Paterson.

They say the day’s schedule will be tailored to reflect the student’s interests in local government and Kingston.

Interested applicants are to submit a short video application that answers the five following questions:

  • Why do you want to be Mayor for a day?
  • What would be your first action as Mayor?
  • What would you like to learn about the City of Kingston?
  • Where would you like to visit during Mayor for a Day?
  • What is your favourite thing about living in Kingston?

The video must be submitted on the Get Involved Kingston website by Friday June 19 at 4:30 pm.
