Chris Whyman won his ninth title in Ottawa.
You can add another Provincial Town Crier championship to Chris Whyman's trophy case.
The Kingston native recently won the 2026 Ontario Guild of Town Criers Competition at the Tulip Festival in Ottawa.
It was Whyman's ninth provincial title in the 42 years he has been the Town Crier in Kingston.
He says there was a lot of training involved in preparing for the competition.
Competitors are evaluated and judged on a number of factors.
Whyman started as the Town Crier in Kingston in 1984 after winning a contest.
He says he always enjoys meeting other town criers across Ontario.
Whyman has also competed in the world town crier championships and will do it again this September in London, England.
