The event hosted by Save South Frontenac will take place at Legion Branch 560 in Kingston.
Opponents of a high-speed rail line are set to gather for an information meeting in Kingston.
The group Save South Frontenac will be hosting the event at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 on Thursday.
It will address Alto's plans to build a 1,000 km long high-speed rail line connecting Toronto to Quebec City and their case against it.
The event will have three speakers: Geologist Dr. Andrew Hyett will discuss the science behind high-speed rail, Rideau Lakes Councillor Paula Banks will cover municipal participation and non-disclosure agreements, and Josh Suppan of the National Farmers Union will go over the impact the rail line with have on farm land and agriculture.
There will also be a question and answer session at the end of the presentations.
In a news release, Save South Frontenac says there are a number of questions about the project that hasn't been answered. It goes on to say that there has not been the support from Kingston residents to have a station in the city based on the number of signatures on an e-petition by Kingston and the Islands MP Mark Gerretsen.
The doors open at 5 pm with the presentations beginning at 5:45 pm followed by the Q&A session at 7 pm.
