Tobacco, cannabis products, crystal methamphetamine and more were seized.
Correctional Service Canada says staff at Collins Bay Institution seized a large amount of contraband during searches between May 20 and June 5, 2026, following suspected drone drops.
Officials say multiple packages containing drugs and unauthorized items were recovered at the multi-level security federal prison. The seizures included tobacco, cannabis products such as marijuana, hashish and shatter, crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, tattoo equipment, edged weapons, and cell phones with accessories.
The total estimated institutional value of the seized items is about $687,355.
CSC says the operation was the result of increased security measures and suspected drone drops used to deliver contraband into the facility.
The agency uses ion scanners, detector dogs, and regular searches to stop illegal items from entering institutions. It also works with police to investigate trafficking attempts.
