An online survey is out looking for public input.
The City of Kingston is doing a review on the roles of elected members on city council and they are seeking public input.
A Council Resourcing Review Working Group is going over what duties members of council are obligated to do and how they are compensated.
They will also determine whether council positions should be part-time or full-time, and look at ways to encourage diversity and remove barriers for equity-deserving groups.
In a news release, the City says the roles and responsibilities of council have evolved over time, and the working group is taking a fresh look at how elected officials are resourced.
The group is looking for feedback from the public. There is a survey that is available online until Jan. 12, 2026.
The group will finalize its recommendations and present them to Council in the spring.
