Dan Irwin predicts food bank usage will continue to grow.
The Partners in Mission are preparing to wind down the holiday season and the year.
The Kingston-area food bank saw plenty of food coming in and out of their warehouse on Harvey St. They also saw a number of people go through their doors to get food.
Executive Director Dan Irwin says 2025 was a typical year for the food bank.
There were a number of food drives taking place throughout the city that were run by individuals and organizations.
Irwin says the ones that occurred in December helped them keep their shelves stocked.
Irwin thanks the community for helping them not only meet the needs of the organization but also helping families put food on the table.
As for 2026, Irwin says there a number of factors that will determine how busy the food bank will be.
He says as they put together their budgets, he keeps an eye on what's trending and how that will affect their operations.
Irwin says with food costs expected to rise by as much as 6 percent, he sees more people using food banks not only in Kingston but throughout the province.
