Lane reduction planned April 14 for overpass assessment, with backup date set for April 15.
Drivers in Kingston can expect delays on Highway 2 next week as work takes place near the Royal Military College of Canada pedestrian overpass.
According to Canadian Armed Forces, the roadway will be reduced to one lane on April 14 between Lasalle Causeway and Verite Avenue. The lane closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., although the inspection itself is expected to take only a few hours.
Traffic will continue to move in both directions, but the open lane will shift sides as work progresses. Motorists are being advised to plan for possible delays.
The temporary reduction is needed to complete an enhanced assessment of the overpass structure.
Pedestrians will still be allowed to use the overpass unless conditions change during the inspection.
April 15 has been set as a backup date in case of poor weather. Officials are thanking the public for their patience.
