Think downtown parking is a hassle? The city says it’s closer than you think

New event parking page highlights nearby options for games, concerts and shows.

Heading downtown for a Kingston Frontenacs game, a concert at Slush Puppie Place or a show at the Grand Theatre may be easier than expected, according to the City of Kingston.

The city says recent parking studies show municipal parking garages and nearby lots often have space available during major events. Surface lots, on-street parking and transit options also add to the mix, giving visitors more ways to get downtown.

To help residents plan ahead, the city has launched a new downtown events parking webpage. The page brings parking information together in one place, including an interactive map showing walking times from nearby lots and garages to Slush Puppie Place, Springer Market Square and the Grand Theatre.

The page also lists flat evening and event parking rates, parking capacity details, live camera feeds at the Hanson and Chown parking garages, transit and Park and Ride options, and on-street parking payment information.

City officials say the walking-time map shows some parking options are closer than they appear. More information is available at CityofKingston.ca/EventParking.
