City of Kingston announces 2026 Civic Award recipients ahead of August ceremony.
Seven Kingston residents are being recognized for their outstanding volunteer service and contributions to the community through the City of Kingston’s 2026 Civic Awards.
The annual awards celebrate people who go above and beyond to strengthen the city through volunteer work in areas such as culture, recreation, sports, health, education, safety and the environment.
This year’s First Capital Distinguished Citizen Award has been presented to Marion Westenberg. The First Capital Honourable Achievement Award recipients are Rumit Sohal, Alicia Gordon and Shawn Quigley.
The Mayor’s Award for Youth Volunteerism will be awarded to Gabriel Bergeron, Zein Al Abideen Hammad and Lucas Perri.
Mayor Bryan Paterson said the awards recognize people who generously give their time, talents and energy to support others and help make Kingston a better place.
The city plans to share recipient biographies and photos on its social media channels in the coming weeks.
Recipients will be formally honoured during a ceremony at the Aug. 11 Kingston City Council meeting.
