Schools remain open
All Tri-Board school bus transportation has been cancelled for today as Environment Canada continues to issue a yellow weather warning for heavy snowfall across Kingston and surrounding areas. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected, with reduced visibility at times due to heavy snow and local blowing snow.
Schools remain open.
The snowfall is forecast to continue through the morning and into the evening, tapering off overnight. A low-pressure system moving through southern Ontario is responsible for the prolonged snow event. Officials warn a sharp drop in temperatures combined with gusty winds will lead to cold wind chills and worsening travel conditions.
Motorists are advised to prepare for rapidly changing road conditions, particularly during the morning and afternoon rush hours. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for travel and use caution on roads and highways. Residents should continue to monitor local forecasts and weather alerts for updates as conditions evolve.
