Kingston’s Snow Angels program is matching volunteers with residents to keep sidewalks and driveways safe all season long.
Kingston is teaming up with Snow Angels Canada to help residents deal with winter snow and ice while building stronger community connections.
The City of Kingston is promoting the Snow Angels online platform, which connects people who need help clearing snow with volunteers willing to lend a hand. Residents can register to request assistance with shovelling walkways and driveways, or sign up as volunteers to help neighbours nearby.
Karen Santucci, Kingston’s director of public works and solid waste, said winter conditions can be challenging for many people.
“Winter is better when we tackle it together,” Santucci said, noting that not everyone is able to keep their walkways clear and safe.
Snow Angels Canada launched in 2015 and has grown into a national program, partnering with municipalities across the country to support residents during winter.
Santucci encouraged residents who are able to volunteer, and those needing help, to sign up through the Snow Angels website to give or receive assistance this winter.
