Partners in Mission Food Bank came close to reaching its spring goal during Saturday’s annual Food Blitz, collecting just over 24,000 pounds of food toward a 25,000-pound target.
The April 12 event, held at 10 local grocery stores, saw strong community support and cheerful volunteers from Kingston Rotary, CFB Kingston, RBC, BMO, and many others.
Food donations are still being accepted, along with financial contributions toward the food bank’s $30,000 April goal. So far, $14,192.42 has been raised.
This yearly drive has helped feed local families since 1984. The food bank receives no government funding and relies entirely on community generosity.
Executive Director Dan Irwin thanked volunteers, shoppers, and store partners for helping bring their mission to life: “to provide nourishment, hope, and support in our community with an opportunity for all to share.”
