RCAF teams up with Santa to deliver teddy bears to children receiving care.
Santa Claus made his annual visit to Kingston Health Sciences Centre on Friday morning as part of Operation HOHOHO, supported by members of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1 Wing at CFB Kingston.
Santa was originally scheduled to arrive by Griffon helicopter, but due to windy conditions, he instead travelled to the KHSC helipad at Breakwater Park in a military jeep. The change in transportation didn’t slow the team down, as Santa and RCAF personnel greeted families and staff before heading inside.
Executive vice-president of patient care, Jason Hann, says the visit always brings joy to everyone at KHSC.
Each pediatric patient received a special teddy bear purchased through 1 Wing’s yearly fundraising efforts. The RCAF “elves” joined Santa in delivering the gifts, helping bring comfort and excitement to patients receiving care.
Hann says the event wouldn’t be possible without generous support from the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Organizers say the visit continues to be a meaningful holiday tradition for young patients and for the military members who support it each year.
