Residents are being contacted by individuals claiming to offer incentives to homeowners.
Kingston Police are informing the public about a potential scam.
They say someone is claiming to be representing an unnamed utilities company offering incentives to homeowners.
On Nov. 20, a resident saw an ad about a federal incentive on their social media feed and filled out a form. The resident then received a phone call and was asked questions about their home and the number of appliances they have.
Immediately after hanging up, the resident then contacted Utilities Kingston about the incentive and the utility says they are not aware of it.
The next day, an individual drove up to the resident's home in a 2025 Mercedes Benz sedan. The individual asked to come in but was refused and then left.
There is no description of the individual but investigators are reminding residents not to provide personal information to anyone who they don't know or can't be verified.
Anyone who receives these suspicious calls should contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660, ext. 0.
