Organizers, vendors, visitors happy with Kingston Ribfest and Craft Beer Show

Plenty of ribs, beer, and more were enjoyed over the three days at the Memorial Centre.

Thousands of people managed to take in the craft beer and ribs at the Memorial Centre.

The 12th annual Kingston Ribfest and Craft Beer Show was held over the weekend.

Event manager Guy Exley says they were blessed with some good weather over the three days.

He says overall, it was a very successful event.

The event featured six barbecues serving up ribs, pulled pork, and chicken basted in their own unique sauce, and around a dozen craft beer vendors.

There was also other food vendors, live entertainment, and a kids funzone.

New this year was the waste collection being sorted and separated.

Exley says this initiative has led to a lot of waste being diverted from landfills.

Admission to the Ribfest and Craft Beer Show was free but visitors were encouraged to make a donation of cash or non-perishable food to the Partners in Mission Food Bank.

Exley says the food bank collected $5,724 in cash and 1,226 pounds of food over the three days.

He says this shows not only the generosity from the community but also how thankful they are.

Exley says they will be back next year for the 13th edition of the event.

He says the formula of serving up great ribs and beer has been working and doesn't expect that to change.
