Province funds new programs to help veterans transition into civilian careers and fill in-demand jobs.
The Ontario government is investing $575,000 to help Canadian Armed Forces veterans turn their military experience into postsecondary credits and faster career opportunities.
The funding supports Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) projects at six Ontario colleges and universities, including Fanshawe, Georgian, Canadore, Lakehead, Waterloo and Windsor. The projects will create tools and platforms to recognize military training, automate credit assessments and help veterans access new education pathways.
The initiative is led by the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) and coincides with Veterans’ Week. It aims to make transitioning from military to civilian life easier while addressing the province’s growing need for skilled workers.
