Car crashes through storefront at Sigrid’s Natural Food just before Christmas.
A vehicle crashed through the front window of Sigrid’s Natural Food in Kingston just before Christmas, narrowly avoiding injuries to staff and customers.
The incident happened last Wednesday at around 2 p.m., as employees were preparing to close early for the holiday. Store owner Chelsea Ryan was inside doing payroll when a blue Chevrolet Equinox drove through the front glass window.
Ryan said seven staff members and several customers were inside the store at the time. No one was hurt.
Emergency crews, including Kingston Fire and Rescue, paramedics and police, responded quickly. Fire crews assessed the building and confirmed there were no concerns about structural collapse.
Fire Chief Jason Carr said it appears the elderly driver accidentally drove into the building, noting it is the third time a similar incident has happened at the location.
Cleanup began shortly after the crash, with efforts focused on securing the damaged storefront. Police have not said whether charges will be laid.
