No charges after video circulates showing a worker dumping water on homeless man in downtown Kingston

The homeless man told investigators it was a misunderstanding.

An social media video post is generating reaction from the community.

The video shows someone working at a store in downtown Kingston pouring a bucket of water on a homeless man who was lying on the sidewalk.

The video sparked outrage towards the worker who is believed to be the owner of the store.

Investigators with Kingston Police say they went to the scene and approached the homeless man who said it was all a misunderstanding and wants to move on.

They say numerous community agencies and support services have checked on the individual’s well-being since the incident.

The Downtown Kingston BIA also issued a statement on the incident calling it a "complex situation".

They say the business owner would typically ask if they can clean the area around, and that the business owner has sought guidance from outreach teams on how to navigate these situations respectfully and safely.

The Kingstonist says they had spoken to the woman who shot the video. It was posted to her Instagram page and she believes what the worker did to the homeless man was intentional.

There have been no charges laid by police.
