The Kingston Area Taxi Commission has launched the Accessible Transit Pass .
People in Kingston and Loyalist Township with mobility challenges now have a new and affordable way to get around.
The Kingston Area Taxi Commission (KATC) has launched the Accessible Transit Pass (ATP), allowing eligible riders to travel anywhere in Kingston or Loyalist for a flat fare of just $3.50.
The service is available 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Riders simply pre-register, get a photo ID card, and call either Amey’s or Modern City Taxi to book a ride. The program is designed to complement the Kingston Access Bus and ease demand on its limited fleet.
Drivers are reimbursed for the cost difference using funds collected through a 27-cent fee on rides from companies like Uber. Over 157 people applied in just three days after the program’s launch. KATC says this new option helps build a more inclusive, barrier-free community across the region.
