A semi-detached home will be built on Wilson St. for two families.
Construction is underway for a new Habitat for Humanity home in Kingston.
Members of the Kingston Limestone board of directors joined Mayor Brian Patterson in a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday at the site on Wilson St. next to Evangel Pentecostal Church.
This latest project will see a semi-detached house built for two families.
CEO Gary Lees says these families will be able to own the homes once they move in.
Lees says it is projects like the one that is happening on Wilson St. and others across Canada that brings people closer to home ownership.
He adds building affordable homes is one way to deal with the economic uncertainty many Canadians are facing.
The new home will be situated near a park, school, and community centre.
Lees says it is important to build homes in areas where families can live and thrive.
Lees says they will soon be opening up the process for families to apply.
He hopes to have the homes ready to move in by around this Christmas.
